Just wanted to say Google Indic Thamizh is awesome.(I don't understand why we spell it "tamil" which doesn't have the great ழ sound. "zh", though doesn't inherently have the "ழ்" sound, will cause confusion among the unaware who might consult others and get the information that its pronounced as "ழ்"- though sadly most of the thamizhians themselves pronounce it as ள-. Whereas the "il" (tamil) will encourage wrong pronunciation. "i like தமில்!!").
Back to the Google Indic. I suspect "it knows" what we are typing. Such is its accuracy; when we don't get the word we want, and begin to try using a different spelling, it says "hold on" and gives a list of related words which mostly meets the need. I am now planning to wholly tamiliarise the future posts in this blog! :)

Yup.. spot on this Indic thingy.. Kind of undermines the myth 'Google can read ur mind'..:D
ReplyDeleteBut coming to ur 'Tamizh' issue, consider this.. English is referred to in Hindi as 'Angrezi' (अंग्रेजी ).. They've lost every one of their syllables..:P If even they don't care, whats with us? And still, 'zh' is still an assumed pronunciation, so v can always speak the word the way its meant to be, screw the letters!! =)
Ya. But the special "ழ்" sound of thamizh is getting compromised with! -few languages have this sound i think.

Angrezi doesnt refer to english directly i guess, it is a common word used to refer foreign languages!
ReplyDeleteNope, अंग्रेजी does refer to English alone.. Take my word for it.. If you wouldn't, Google 'english-hindi translation angrezi' and you'll find out..:)
